A babysitter from Murfreesboro has been arrested and charged with child abuse
Brenda Joyce Davis, 57, is charged with reckless endangerment and child abuse after a 4-year-old boy bit the 1-year-old girl while in her care in July.
According to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department, Davis left two children unattended in her home where a 4-year-old, who has had behavioral issues in the past, bit a 1-year-old in excess of 20 times on her back, buttocks, face, arms and legs.
The toddler was treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and released to her parents.
During the investigation, multiple marijuana plants were found in Davis’ home, some in reach of the young children. Davis told authorities that she used the marijuana mainly for medicinal purposes when making hot tea.
Davis is being held on $20,000 bond and is scheduled in Circuit Court for a hearing on Sept. 25.

Firefighters find body in burned Memphis house

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Fire officials say a man's body was found in a burned house in Memphis.
The Memphis Fire Department says 35 firefighters and other emergency personnel responded to a blaze Monday morning at a one-story house in the Uptown neighborhood.
Firefighters searched the home after they put out the blaze. Fire officials say the body of a man was found in the living room area.
The man's identity has not yet been released. The cause of death is being investigated.
Officials say the home has fire, water and smoke damage. The cause of the fire also is under investigation.
