WBFF Fox 45 :: City of Viola Investigates Possible Arson
A serial arsonist is suspected in three separate fires.  One of which left a family homeless.  It happened in the town of Viola in Warren County and tonight, state arson investigators are hoping for a break in this case.

It's normally a happy time of year  in Warren County.  The fair's in town and that's exactly where Bobby Jaco's family  was when someone tried    to burn everything he owns to the ground.

Bobby Jaco says: "One of the officers asked me who have I made mad.   Who do you make that mad?"  Jaco owns the Mountain View Mobile Home park.  His store is a shell of a building.  His house also gutted by the arsonist.  And a nearby trailer was set afire too.

Chief Investigator  Marc Martin with the Warren County Sheriff's Department says believes he may have some leads. "My guess is that it would be more of a crime of anger or they're mad at the landlord and trying to get back at him."

Jaco says some renters can't make rent and he has had to send the maintenance guy, Randy Streeval,  to kick them out.   Streeval says,  "When they get  $400 to $500 dollars behind,  I've got to do something. Can't just let them live here. We've got bills coming just like they do."

Right now, Jaco's family, which includes four children, are living in this motel room while state and county arson investigators look for clues in what's left of the melted roof  and charred rubble

Jaco says, "I've got a little two and a half year old  son and he turned my head and looked at me and said house broke daddy and I started crying that just. It's just more than a daddy knows how to deal with."  Others who live in the mobile home park say they're sleeping lightly too like
Harris Priest.  "Well it makes me feel kind of a paranoid in a way  because I just live right here."

For Jaco, his family got called home early from the fair.... an outing he ultimately believes saved their lives.   "Whatever their intentions was I think it's a total disregard for my children.  This is just absolutely unreal."

TBI: Women more likely family violence victims
June 20, 2013 08:10 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A new study of domestic violence in Tennessee last year found women were nearly two times more likely to be victimized than men and children were the victims in 16 percent of all family violence cases.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation put out a report this week analyzing crime statistics from law enforcement agencies across the state. Their findings show that nearly 15 percent of all crimes reported were domestic in nature.

The study looked at the relationships between victims and offenders as well as the influence of drugs and alcohol on family violence. The study found that more than 17 percent of family violence involves drugs or alcohol, with alcohol being the most common.
