WBFF Fox 45 :: Shooting in Front of Kiddieland Day Nursery
Shots were fired on Chapel Street around 9:30am this morning in front of Kiddieland Day Nursery on Chapel Street in Clarksville. Officers tell us when they arrived on the scene they found a 22 year old woman and a 25 year old man that had been shot. We're told the man was shot in the arm, hand and his head was grazed. Police say the woman had been shot in the hand. The man was taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries. The woman was transported by ambulance to Gateway. Both are in stable condition. Investigators say despite limited cooperation at the scene, they believe there was a fight between the 25 year old and another man in the street. We're told the 22 year old female intervened in the fight and at some point, an unknown person fired a handgun, hitting the both of them. Police believe the shooting victims were involved in some sort of relationship together. They say there's no reason to believe the nursery was targeted in the shooting. The woman had just dropped her children off at the nursery and the confrontation between the men occurred in the street in front of the nursery. Police are asking the public to call with any information about the person(s) involved in the shooting, saying it showed a disregard for the safety of residents in the area and the children inside the nursery. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Queen Elizabeth's youngest son, Prince Edward, is visiting Tennessee to promote one of the British royal family's charities, the Duke of Edinburgh's awards.

The prince presided over an awards ceremony at the governor's mansion in Nashville on Thursday for the first batch of young Tennesseans to participate in the leadership and character program.

About 80 youths received the award by participating in community service, skills development, physical fitness and adventurous journeys through the Boy Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, LEAD Academy, Montgomery Bell Academy or the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Organization.

Following the event, Gov. Bill Haslam and first lady Crissy Haslam invited the awardees and their families to tea inside the governor's residence. Later on Thursday, the prince was scheduled to headline a black-tie gala at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville.
