Dolly always has something going on. While she is technically taking a break,
she still has a lot for fans to look forward to, including a new book and new
music with "The Possum"!
"You never get to old to enjoy the success and
at my age I am thrilled to get anything in this business" laughs Dolly Parton.
In front of a packed room of media, Dolly accepted a plaque for being
the first artist to go gold under Cracker Barrels exclusive music program.
"It's always meaningful to do business with people that see you, get
you, and believe in you. So we've made a good team. Good to be part of a winning
group" says Dolly.
But that's not all the country legend has to
celebrate this summer. Parton heads to the studio on Monday to record audio for her new book
"Chasing Dreams", inspired from her commencement speech at the University of
Tennessee several years back.
"Dream more, learn more, care more and do
more. So i do different chapters on those things and put my own spin and on my
life, give advice. It's fun reading and hopefully it's uplifting. It's not story
of my life but I certainly cover different parts of it" says Dolly.
After several decades of touring, making music and doing film, Dolly is
now taking a much needed break.
"Right now I'm enjoying hanging with
nieces and nephews. No kids of my own but I'm a great aunt granny" laughs DOlly.
She jokes that no more movies are in her near future.
"Joyfully
Noise didn't do too good so I haven't had any calls lately" she joakes.
She also pointed out that she has no plans for any music projects of her
own.
"I don't have plans to do records but you know me that could change
tomorrow in fact it will, cause I sing" says
Dolly.
Being on break doesn't' mean Dolly is totally relaxing. She did
spill the beans that she is helping George Jones with his new album
"I am
writing some stuff with him, some of it duets in hopes I get to sing with him on
them. In my mind no one will ever sing better than George for emotion and heart
and feeling. I love him personally and love his singing" says Dolly.

Work beginning on Civil War park in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Civil War landmark in East Tennessee will soon become a low-impact park that allows public access and preserves the area's historical integrity.
High Ground Park is being created at the site of Fort Higley in south Knoxville, which was manned by Union soldiers during the Siege of Knoxville in 1863.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/11Vb6XJ) reports the park is scheduled to open on Nov. 27, which is the 150th anniversary of the construction of Fort Higley.
Bob Young, who has been involved in the effort to preserve the site, says it is "a treasure."
