"I guess it's the fact that we don't have sufficient evidence from fire investigators to positively conclude that they died in this fire," says TBI's Kristin Helm. "It makes us want to make sure that they are not somewhere else."
The local community continues to support the family through all of this. The children's school has posted a message and white ribbons on its sign asking folks to pray for the family. At this time, investigators do not have any evidence of foul play, but it's clear this case is changing. TBI investigators are now interviewing family members, including the children's biological parents. We will continue to follow this story as more developments unfold. Right now, autopsies must still be completed on the bodies of the grandparents. Then after that, the family can begin to make funeral arrangements. Houston brother will be his own attorney in court
June 18, 2013 13:02 GMT
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Roane County man will face federal gun violation charges next month without an attorney.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/17VlXpM ) reported Rocky Joe Houston will represent himself on a charge of possession of a gun by a felon.
The charge came after Houston earlier represented himself in state court on charges stemming from a police chase. He was convicted of evading arrest and reckless endangerment.
Houston and his brother, Leon Houston, were tried, but not convicted, in the 2006 shooting deaths of a Roane County deputy and his ride-along companion.
In federal court, Rocky Joe Houston is claiming the officer who charged him with the felony had no legal authority.
