WHITE HOUSE, Tenn. - One family continues to clean up debris in their front yard after their home was battered by winds of over 65mph. An EF-0 tornado created a mess on Sandy Valley Road near White House. Pieces of barns and trees were scattered. Sam Harris says he heard the wind and moved his family to safety just before a loud boom shook his home.
"Then there was a sudden boom," says Harris. "I guess that could have been the sound of the tree hitting the house and my wife didn't want me going outside, but I had to check on my horses. It's funny how it will touch one house and leave another house alone. My neighbors don't even have limbs down over there. It's just hard to understand."
Harris says he has insurance and church members have also offered to help him clean up.

Work beginning on Civil War park in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Civil War landmark in East Tennessee will soon become a low-impact park that allows public access and preserves the area's historical integrity.
High Ground Park is being created at the site of Fort Higley in south Knoxville, which was manned by Union soldiers during the Siege of Knoxville in 1863.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/11Vb6XJ) reports the park is scheduled to open on Nov. 27, which is the 150th anniversary of the construction of Fort Higley.
Bob Young, who has been involved in the effort to preserve the site, says it is "a treasure."
