WBFF Fox 45 :: Home For The Last Time- A Little Boy's Fight With Brain Cancer- Erica Shaffer
Going home.... It's one of the last wishes for a little boy with terminal cancer. And while the family of little AJ Fuller prepares to say goodbye- they are also counting their blessings.
Including a very special friendship AJ made at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
Even though AJ is dealing with unbearable pain on the inside... He still is able to smile...
Doctors say AJ has about a week to live... And AJ along with the rest of the Fuller family decided to bring him home
We were there as AJ left the hospital and finally was surrounded by the comfort of his own house.
He may be leaving his best friend... But for AJ... There will be no more hospital beds.
Ann Fuller says, “Watching his body decline while his mind kept going- I had to make some really hard hard decisions.”
AJ was diagnosed with brain cancer in September of 2007 ... In February of 2008 he was cancer free.
But on July 3rd 2010 the cancer would come back
Ann Fuller says, “There's so little awareness about childhood cancer- every school day 46 children are diagnosed - AJ was that twice - every school day 7 of those kids will die and AJ will be one of those 7 soon.”
From the outside AJ is very fragile- but on the inside you can tell there is an everyday 10 year old ... No one understands that better than his best friend Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly says, “I have leukemia and that is really hard but with brain cancer one of the deadliest cancers I can't even believe he lived a month that's how strong he is.”
Ann Fuller says, “Having a common difficulty - they understand- where other kids can only sympathize.”
And while AJ's parents know the outcome…
Fuller says, “If you try to plan for the future it gets overwhelming so so you have to take it as it comes and so you just pray every step of the way.”
They say while spending their last few days with AJ will be difficult... They stay focused on his destination ...
Fuller says, “It is disheartening but at the same time when you look and you know there is a better place for him no more struggles - he will be free.”
And enjoying the time they have with him now...
AJ spent this Halloween handing out candy in his costume… Although he did tell me if the kids looked too old - they couldn't have any...
Doctors believe AJ has one or two weeks to live… His mother tells me if he lives to November third he will be the longest living after his diagnosis.
If you want to help the fuller family you can make donations.
Go to any regions back and ask for the AJ Fuller fund.

Court rules against man who lost handgun permit
May 24, 2013 16:15 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Appeals Court has ruled against a man who claimed state law regulating the carrying of firearms was unconstitutional.

Leonard Embody filed suit in 2010 after state officials took away his carry permit, finding a "material likelihood of risk of harm to the public."

The revocation came after Embody was detained by Belle Meade police in 2010 while walking with a .44 caliber black powder revolver in his hand. He was detained in 2009 while walking in Radnor Lake State Park with an AK-47-style pistol. There have been at least three similar incidents, although Embody was never charged with a crime.

Embody claimed in court the Second Amendment gave him a right to carry firearms.

The Appeals Court disagreed, ruling that the right to bear arms is not unrestricted.
