"After a lengthy investigation with the Sheriff's Department, it was learned that Crystal Moore Dycus was the Treasurer at the church and she was responsible for the accounts there at the church and she admitted to taking money from the church," says Sumner County Sheriff's Department Detective Lisa House.
After 14 years as Treasurer, Marsha Davis turned the job over to Crystal. In November, Marsha got a call form the bank that the church account was overdrawn. Marsha says church investment CD's were closed without their knowledge and bank records show large ATM withdrawals and unauthorized purchases for things like Netflix.
"We trusted her and we never thought anything like this would happen, especially when she's standing in front of the church every Sunday looking at us straight in the eye," says Davis. "You know, it's just pretty sad."
Officials say the theft occurred between March of 2011 and November of 2012, totaling $160,000. It's a crippling loss for this small country church.
"My opinion is always have a backup system," says Detective House. "Always have somebody double check someone else's work."
Crystal Moore Dycus has a hearing next month on money laundering and theft charges. Last August, she was arrested for Possession of Schedule II and Schedule III Drugs for Resale.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam says chief deputy Claude Ramsey is retiring at the end of August to spend more time with his family in Chattanooga.
The Republican governor said in a news release on Wednesday that the 70-year-old Ramsey has been integral to his administration on key initiatives that include civil service reform, economic development efforts, workforce development training and improved operation of state government.
Ramsey was elected to the General Assembly in 1972 where he served four years in the House. He was Hamilton County's mayor for 16 years.
His last day on the job is August 31.
