WBFF Fox 45 :: Man Goes to Woman's Home with Knife, Hatchet to Rob Her
A Kentucky teenager is charged with aggravated robbery for going to an east Nashville woman’s home, apparently at random, armed with a knife and a hatchet.

According to Metro police, Arturo Perez, 18, of Florence, Kentucky, knocked on the door of the female victim on Curdwood Boulevard at around 8:30 a.m.  When she opened her door slightly, she said the man put a knife to her chest and ordered her to step back into the home. It was then that she saw he was also carrying a hatchet.

The victim also had a knife in her hand and put it to the suspect’s abdomen.  She then ran around him and out of the house, telling the man that she had a phone and was calling police.

Perez fled in a silver Pontiac and within 20 minutes was spotted by a Madison precinct detective at the 1500 block of South Gallatin Pike. The officer attempted to stop the car and Perez fled, at one point reaching speeds approaching 100 mph.

Perez wrecked in Hendersonville and was immediately taken into custody.

Perez admitted that he entered the victim’s Curdwood Boulevard home with the intent of robbing her.  He also acknowledged that he may have harmed her if she hadn’t gotten away.

Why Perez was in Nashville remains under investigation. He is also charged with felony evading police.  He is jailed on $200,000 bond. Man Goes to Woman's Home with Knife, Hatchet to Rob Her

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam says chief deputy Claude Ramsey is retiring at the end of August to spend more time with his family in Chattanooga.

The Republican governor said in a news release on Wednesday that the 70-year-old Ramsey has been integral to his administration on key initiatives that include civil service reform, economic development efforts, workforce development training and improved operation of state government.

Ramsey was elected to the General Assembly in 1972 where he served four years in the House. He was Hamilton County's mayor for 16 years.

His last day on the job is August 31.
