WBFF Fox 45 :: Massive Amount of Jobs Coming to Nashville
A major announcement. At least 1000 new jobs are coming to Nashville. HCA, one of the largest employers in Middle Tennessee, is expanding. It's another sign Nashville is becoming the state's healthcare capitol. HCA plans to build two towers on an abandoned construction site in West End, cleaning up a midtown eyesore and offering jobs with close to 6-figure salaries.

"This is home for us," says HCA CEO Richard Bracken. "We don't want to go anywhere else, we've never wanted to go anywhere else."

With that, a $200 million decision was made. Plans to morph an abandoned construction site into 2 corporate tower headquarters, housing both Parallon Business Solutions and the Sarah Cannon Research Institute.

"When you think about how that site is going to be transformed with development all around it, it's going to be an incredible win for the city of Nashville," says Mayor Karl Dean.

Thursday's announcement is already revving up HCA's expansion to be a huge economic engine for the city, with 1000 new high-paying jobs and almost 1000 more transferring from Williamson County and other Nashville offices.

"The truth is, all jobs are not created equal," says Governor Bill Haslam. "These are jobs that are gonna average near 6 figures and jobs any city and state would want."

Those jobs reportedly pay anywhere between $85,000-$90,000 a year with benefits including annual employee stipends. HCA is still negotiating the property lease agreement, which will likely be presented to City Council for final approval some time after November. May 23, 2013 19:55 GMT

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Memphis police have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting one man and wounding another.

The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/188G97s ) reports that 21-year-old Setric Hall has been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, attempted second-degree murder and using a firearm during a felony.

He's being held in the Shelby County Jail.

Police say the shootings occurred Wednesday night. Officers found a 26-year-old man on the floor with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead there, and later identified as Devin Cox.

A few minutes later, officers responded to another location, where they found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis.

Police believe that Hall was trying to shoot his girlfriend when the 22-year-old man intervened.

The girlfriend was not injured.
