Four men were arrested in north Nashville Monday night after Metro Police discovered large quantities of marijuana being delivered through the mail.
Police executed a federal search warrant at a home at 1350 Rosa Parks Boulevard where resident, 26-year-old Franklin Sisamouth, had accepted three packages that contained marijuana, according to police records obtained by FOX 17 News. The three packages weighed approximately 16 pounds.
Sisamouth told police that he was being paid $200 by 34-year-old Somphone Chanphovang of La Vergne, who was also arrested, for each package he received. Sisamouth says he had previously received one package.
In addition to the 16 pounds of marijuana, three pounds of pot were recovered in Sisamouth's vehicle. An additional ounce was found in the vehicle of 28-year-old Pierro Keoprasith whom police arrested. Kamon Vongrasmy, 36, was also arrested in relation.

State officials to hold seat belt campaign event
May 24, 2013 08:11 GMT

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (AP) -- The Governor's Highway Safety Office plans to announce its "Click It or Ticket" campaign on Friday.

The event is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. at the Robertson County Courthouse in Springfield.

Nationally, statistics show seat belt use increased significantly in 2012 as compared to 2011 among drivers, right-front passengers and backseat occupants.

However, officials say more than 400 of Tennessee's crash fatalities last year involved unrestrained drivers or passengers.

The Governor's Highway Safety Office urges all motorists to buckle up.
