WBFF Fox 45 :: Woman Hit by Car in Madison
We now know the name of the woman critically injured on East Old Hickory Boulevard at Delaware Avenue in Madison Friday night when she was hit by a car. Metro Police say Joanne Stauffer, 52, was hit by a 2004 Dodge Stratus driven by Mark Hunt around 8:30 p.m. Police say Hunt told officers that Stauffer suddenly appeared in front of him and he could not avoid hitting her. She sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to a Vanderbilt University Medical Center .

Police say Stauffer was wearing dark clothing when she crossed the street and the area was dimly lit making it hard for Hunt to see her. There was no indication of drugs, alcohol or excessive speed. The Fatal Crash Team was requested to the scene to complete the investigation. No charges were placed against Hunt. The 4-year-old with Stauffer at the time was unharmed in the incident and was released to her father who arrived on the scene later. Police say  it is possible that the child had gotten free from her, ran across the street and Stauffer followed, although that has not been confirmed. Woman Hit by Car in Madison

Former Dyer County constable sentenced to prison
May 23, 2013 12:50 GMT

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Dyer County Constable Derick Shane Hundley has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.

The State Gazette (http://bit.ly/14UHydd ) reported Hundley was sentenced Monday after earlier entering a guilty plea to enticement of a minor through electronic means. The government dropped a child pornography count.

Prosecutors said Hundley, who is 30, used a cellphone to try to entice a minor female to have sex with him. Police arrested Hundley last July and found an external hard drive that contained numerous images of minors involved in sex. He resigned from the constable post he had won in 2010 after his arrest.
