HERMITAGE, Tenn. - In just a few weeks Miles Freeman went
from being in perfect health to critical condition at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
The fourteen year old was a star athlete at Dupont Tyler Middle School. In
January Miles came down with flu like symptoms. Several doctors examined the
teen and each time he was sent home. As the symptoms worsened, Miles was taken
to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. That’s where he was diagnosed with the flu
and MRSA, a drug resistant staph infection. Though Miles had been in perfect
health, there was little doctors could do to control the staph infection which
ravaged his vital organs. His parents, James Freeman and Brenda Pratchett say
their son was a fighter till the end. They’re hoping he’s remembered for the
smiles and joy he brought to those around him. Visitation for Miles Freeman
will be held at Lewis and Wright Funeral Home on Friday. The funeral service will
be held Saturday at Mt. Zion Church on Murfreesboro Road.
