WBFF Fox 45 :: Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Finds New Home in Convention Center
It's certainly been an exciting day for songwriters in Nashville, because for very the first time in their history the Songwriters Hall of Fame will have a permanent spot in Music City.

If you are a country music fan then you know that George Jones is responsible for recording the hit song "He Stopped Loving Her Today", but what most couldn't tell you is that Bobby Braddock is responsible for co-writing it. But here in a few months all of that is about to change.

"The songwriters are the key, the bedrock, the ones that crate the music that makes this city run" says Mayor Karl Dean.

The songwriters hall of fame will have their very own permanent spot in the lobby of the new music city center, allowing folks to educate themselves on who's responsible for some of their favorite songs.

"Hopefully some of the people that go there will come here and maybe some of them will think there are songwriters that write these songs the singers don't write all their songs you know" says songwriter Bobby Braddock.

Inside there will be a museum with artifacts and touch screens that feature sound and video about the history of Nashville connected songwriting. Outside, in what they are calling "songwriters square", names of hall of fame members will be engraved on the steps.

"The only way some of these people are remembered is because their names are carved on orchard stone right here in the convention center" says songwriter Pat Alger.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame was established in 1970 and ever since they've wanted a home for it's members

"We've been carrying around hall of fame members pictures and putting them on walls wherever we could" says Alger.

Over the past decade several spots have been mentioned, but hall of famer Waylond Holyfield says timing is everything and they couldn't dream of being honored in a better location,"You know why it never came to fruition, because this hadn't been built yet, this was meant to be our permanent home"

Currently there are 184 members in the songwriters hall of fame. Upon this projects completion - hopefully in spring of 2013 - there will be 188 - because on Sunday four new members will be inducted.

SMYRNA, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say a body has been found in Percy Priest Lake in Middle Tennessee.

WSMV-TV (http://bit.ly/16gYKys) reports officials with Metro Police, the Office of Emergency Management and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency were at the scene Saturday at Hole In The Wall Island. The body was reported to authorities about 11 a.m.

TWRA officials say they believe the deceased man is a boater who disappeared in the lake two weeks ago.

Police said the agencies coordinated with each other to get a boat in the water and recover the body.
