WBFF Fox 45 :: Nashville's New Bike Share Program to be Launched Today
Mayor Karl Dean, along with Metro Public Health and the Nashville Downtown Partnership, will launch the Nashville B-cycle program today.
The launch is at noon  at Public Square Park near the corner of Third Avenue and Union Street. Nashville B-cycle is the city's new bike-share program that is designed for short commutes within the urban core.
Following the program, Mayor Dean will check out a B-cycle bike from the automated kiosk at Public Square, ride to the Nashville Farmers' Market and return the bike to a kiosk there. After a short visit, he will return to Public Square.
During the launch, individuals can take demo bike rides and purchase an annual membership at a promotional rate. The first 100 people to sign up for an annual membership will receive a free B-cycle T-shirt and water bottle.
Nashville B-cycle includes 190 bikes at 20 automated kiosks within a three-mile radius of downtown. Individuals can purchase annual memberships, along with seven-day, 30-day and daily passes. Riders can check out a B-cycle from one of the automated bike stations, ride to their destination and return the bike at any nearby station.
The program will be managed by the Nashville Downtown Partnership. B-cycle is used in many other large cities, including Charlotte, Houston and Denver.Nashville's New Bike Share Program to be Launched Today

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Washington County authorities say a man faked a marriage certificate so he could visit a woman held in the Johnson City Detention Facility.

The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/14QBr9L ) reports investigators discovered the ruse after the May 14 visit by 32-year-old Robert S. Hicks of Elizabethton. Hicks was arrested Tuesday on a charge of criminal simulation. He was jailed at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bond, pending a court appearance Wednesday.
