(AP) -- Nestle USA is recalling some of its Nesquik chocolate powder mix because of a possible salmonella risk.
The food maker said that the Nesquik involved was in 10.9-, 21.8- and 40.7-ounce canisters produced in early October and sold across the country.
Nestle said it is issuing the recall after its ingredient supplier, Omaya Inc., recalled some of the calcium carbonate used in the product because of possible salmonella contamination. The company said there have been no reported illnesses associated with the product.
Salmonella can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever. It can be life-threatening in infants, the elderly, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems.
The affected products have a "Best if sold by" date of October 2014. The recall includes the following products and unit production codes, which are on the bottom of the canister.
• 40.7-ounce canisters with UPC code 0 28000 68230 9 and production codes 2282574810 or 2282574820
• 21.8-ounce canisters with UPC code 0 28000 68090 9 and production codes 2278574810, 2278574820, 2279574810, 2279574820, 2284574820, 2284574830, 2285574810, 2285574820, 2287574820, 2289574810 or 2289574820
• 10.9-ounce canisters with UPC code 0 28000 67990 3 and production code 2278574810
Nestle said that consumers who bought the affected Nesquik products should not use it and can return it for a refund or contact Nestle Consumer Services at (800) 628-7679.

Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert at country fest

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The sounds of country music take over the City of Baton Rouge as the Bayou Country Superfest brings some of the genre's biggest names to LSU's Tiger Stadium for a Memorial Day holiday jamfest.
Headlining Saturday are Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker and Aaron Lewis, the former frontman for rock band Staind. The two-day festival concludes Sunday with performances by Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan and The Band Perry.
Festival producer Quint Davis says the talent and free fan fest held before the nightly concerts help to entice attendees. In its fourth year, the festival drew 75,000 people last year.
Visit Baton Rouge executive vice president Renee Areng says Superfest has encouraged people to travel to Baton Rouge on a traditionally sleepy weekend.
