14-time Grammy Award winning musician Ricky Skaggs has done it again! Skaggs has released another studio album, but don't ask him how many this makes. He's been in the business so long, he's lost count!
"I really have lost count," says Skaggs. "No clue, isn't that crazy?"
Skaggs has been making music for about 50 years, so you can see how it would be easy to forget just how many albums he's recorded. According to our count, his latest, "Music to My Ears", puts him at over 30!
"I am blessed to have my own label, studio, be able to sit down and record when I want to," says Skaggs.
Skaggs' last album "Mosaic" was totally gospel. Something not the norm, despite what many believe.
"Contrary to a lot of people's opinions, I am not a Christian artist," says Skaggs. "I am a Christian that is an artist, but not a Christian artist."
"Music to My Ears" is a bluegrass album, but like a lot of his music, it does have some gospel flare, most specifically the album's title track.
"There is a song or 2 with gospel influence and 'Music to My Ears' is definitely one of them," says Skaggs.
Another favorite on the album is the last song you'll hear: "Nothing Beats a Family".
The album also has some humor, a tribute to Doc Watson and features a few well known names like Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. A star studded team that's resulted in some high praise!
"It's a great record, lot of fun, reviews are like we wrote them ourselves," says Skaggs.
Skaggs has had a big year. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and received the Pioneer Award from the Academy of Country Music. He will continue his yearly tradition of touring with his family for "A Skaggs Family Christmas". That show will come to the Ryman December 6.

Couple's bodies found in their Blount County home

LOUISVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Blount (blunt) County sheriff's office says preliminary results of autopsies on the bodies of a couple found dead in their home in Louisville (LEW'-ihs-vil) show their deaths are consistent with murder-suicide.
Marian O'Briant said in an email that it appears 54-year-old Steven Adkins shot 53-year-old Rebecca Adkins, then shot himself.
O'Briant said a family member found the bodies Sunday night. It wasn't clear how long they had been dead.
