WBFF Fox 45 :: NWS: EF0 Tornado Touched Down in Christiana Monday - Erika Lathon
CHRISTIANA, Tenn. - The National Weather Service says a low level EF0 tornado touched down in Christiana Monday afternoon. Storm damage is spread over 2.5 miles, mainly along Sledge and Plain View roads. Several homes and barns suffered roof damage, and lots of trees were twisted and snapped. That twisting motion is something that helps to distinguish a tornado from straight line winds.

"You're certainly looking at wind speeds going to be above 65 or 70mph that you would have in a typical thunderstorm," says NWS's Trevor Boucher. "This is obviously associated with tornadic activity. It's not so much the wind speeds. It's the way the damage fell and the convergent nature of it that would lead us to believe it was a tornado."

Officials estimate the tornado packed wind speeds of around 85mph. While there was quite a bit of damage across the area, no injuries were reported.NWS: EF0 Tornado Touched Down in Christiana Monday - Erika Lathon

Former Dyer County constable sentenced to prison
May 23, 2013 12:50 GMT

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Dyer County Constable Derick Shane Hundley has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.

The State Gazette (http://bit.ly/14UHydd ) reported Hundley was sentenced Monday after earlier entering a guilty plea to enticement of a minor through electronic means. The government dropped a child pornography count.

Prosecutors said Hundley, who is 30, used a cellphone to try to entice a minor female to have sex with him. Police arrested Hundley last July and found an external hard drive that contained numerous images of minors involved in sex. He resigned from the constable post he had won in 2010 after his arrest.
