WBFF Fox 45 :: ONLY ON FOX: Tim McGraw Surprises Veterans Simply To Say
Some Middle Tennessee veterans were enjoying a thank you meal from
Outback Steakhouse and "Operation Home Front", when in walked in super
star Tim McGraw!

I'm very proud to intro our friend and guest - tim mcgraw

"I
don't get to see to many stars, so I'm still starstruck right now. We
appreciate him coming who would have thought us" says Sgt. Deantre
Trotter.

McGraw, who's grandfather, sister and uncle are all
vets, went table to table, shaking hands and thanking these men and
women in unifrom for our freedom.

"It gives us so many freedoms
and so many things if you look around, people don't have freedoms we
have, our military fought for those things and we don't put enough
emphais on that" says McGraw.

The veterans say they are just as thankful that someone of Tim McGraw's status would take time to show his patriotism

"We've
been overseas over 10 years now. Knowing people still appreciate what
we are doing 10 years down the road feels good" says Sgt. Shauna Cook.

Staff Sgt Jasmin Ward was wearing one of the biggest smiles in the room.

"I am a huge fan! I was really surprised, this is one secret they kept a really good grasp on" says Sgt. Ward.

A surprise salute, from a superstar who says these guys and gals are the ones that really shine!

"I
think it's one of the most important things we have. It makes
everything about our country it is what makes us tick" says McGraw.

McGraw
has been involved with "Operation Freedom" for his "Brothers Of The
Sun" tour, giving a home to a military family in need for each of his 25
tour stops.
For any veterans that weren't invited out today, Outback wants to give you a gift too!

As part of their military mates program, veterans and all active
military can receive a free bloomin onion and beverage this Sunday for
Veterans Day, as well as ten percent off their meals through the end of

June 19, 2013 16:41 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam says chief deputy Claude Ramsey is retiring at the end of August to spend more time with his family in Chattanooga.

The Republican governor said in a news release on Wednesday that the 70-year-old Ramsey has been integral to his administration on key initiatives that include civil service reform, economic development efforts, workforce development training and improved operation of state government.

Ramsey was elected to the General Assembly in 1972 where he served four years in the House. He was Hamilton County's mayor for 16 years.

His last day on the job is August 31.
