Prevention is key when it comes to the undetectable threat of carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide detectors work a lot like smoke detectors and alert at the presence of the potentially lethal gas. We are at a higher risk for exposure during the cold winter months when heaters are in full use. Carbon monoxide is released in the air anytime fossil fuel is burned.
First responders are urging every home, office, business, and school be equipped with the life-saving device that can detect the odorless, tasteless, and colorless gas.
Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are similar to flu-like symptoms and depending on exposure range from headache, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness to disorientation, unconsciousness, and even death.
In addition to installing a carbon monoxide detector, there are other things you can do to reduce your risk of exposure.
-Request an annual heating inspection
-Don't use generators inside
-Make sure stove/fireplace is vented
-Schedule annual car service maintenance checks

Tenn. Powerball ticket worth $1 million
May 19, 2013 18:44 GMT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Powerball ticket sold in Tennessee barely missed winning a share of an estimated $590.5 million prize. But the ticket has a nice consolation prize worth $1 million.
Officials say the Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Chattanooga.
There's no word yet on who won.
A Powerball ticket sold at a supermarket in Zephyrhills, Fla., matched all six numbers selected Saturday night for the estimated $590.5 million prize. It's the highest Powerball jackpot in history.
The winning numbers were 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball of 11.
