They also recommend the GroceryIQ app, which lets consumers shop and share shopping lists by scanning bar codes on items. There's also a function to search for coupons, and sync with your list with the supermarket's loyalty program to spot savings more readily. Keep some low-tech tips in mind when you hit the aisles, too. A list, whether it's on a smartphone or jotted down on a piece of paper, can help consumers avoid the many tasty distractions that can cost money and calories. Coupons are great, but Shopsmart Magazine reminds shoppers that some of the most common popular discount categories are for items that could hurt your diet like cookies, snacks and preprocessed foods, so use them in moderation, no matter how good a deal looks.

Man charged with faking marriage to visit inmate

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Washington County authorities say a man faked a marriage certificate so he could visit a woman held in the Johnson City Detention Facility.
The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/14QBr9L ) reports investigators discovered the ruse after the May 14 visit by 32-year-old Robert S. Hicks of Elizabethton. Hicks was arrested Tuesday on a charge of criminal simulation. He was jailed at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bond, pending a court appearance Wednesday.
