SAVING YOU MONEY
Stacy Case
I'm Saving You Money on Valentine's Day. Last year, most men spent around $170 dollars. Women spent on average $86 dollars. There's a cheaper way to show you care that's just as romantic. Let's start with bouquets on a budget. You'll score the best deal with local florists and warehouse stores. Here, you can pick them up yourself and hand deliver--- always more romantic. Savings on delivery? $15 to $20 bucks.
Ditch the vase... and go for a wrap. This can save you 50%. Also, look for tight buds. They'll last the longest.
Don't forget, savings can be found when you're making memories too.
Amy Sewell, a lifestyle expert who founded Shop With Style says, "Things that you could do together, maybe it's tickets for a sporting event, or a concert, or maybe if you both enjoy outdoor activities maybe going for a hike."
To score the best deals on events & restaurants check out sites like Living Social or Groupon. Yipit.com is great at aggregating deals from all the social couponing sites. Discounts are as high as 50 percent.
If it's a brand new relationship, you may do something simple and non committal.. like meet at Starbucks where featured drinks are buy one get one free to share with someone special on Valentine's Day.
When it comes to kids-- set the tone early on says Darcy Jones with Family Circle Magazine, "It's one day. It's kind of a made up day and your job as a parent is to sort of create some balance for them."
Teach them this shopping trick that applies to Valentine's Day and every day. When shopping online, add items to your cart, then delete each one. The retailer will usually send you a coupon code in your email right away. Online retailers don't want to lose your business and you'll end up saving 10 percent just by doing this.
I'd love to hear how you're saving money this Valentine's Day. Tweet me at Stacy_Case17 or send me a message on Facebook.

Houston brother will be his own attorney in court
June 18, 2013 13:02 GMT
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Roane County man will face federal gun violation charges next month without an attorney.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/17VlXpM ) reported Rocky Joe Houston will represent himself on a charge of possession of a gun by a felon.
The charge came after Houston earlier represented himself in state court on charges stemming from a police chase. He was convicted of evading arrest and reckless endangerment.
Houston and his brother, Leon Houston, were tried, but not convicted, in the 2006 shooting deaths of a Roane County deputy and his ride-along companion.
In federal court, Rocky Joe Houston is claiming the officer who charged him with the felony had no legal authority.
