ONLY ON FOX, Midstate families are putting their money where their mouths are. A grassroots movement to feed hundreds of homeless men and women is underway right now in East Nashville. AT the Family Wash in East Nashville, it's tough to say what the bigger draw is: the LIVE music or their famous shepherd's pies, but this holiday season they'll be putting their signature dishes in the hands of those that need them most. A troupe of singing kids got things rolling at the first ever pie drive at the East Nashville hangout Friday night. It's a movement organizers hope will help feed hundreds of homeless Nashvillians.
"Patrons can pay $5 for a shepherd's pie that we will in turn then deliver to local homeless shelters," says Family Wash Owner Jamie Rubin.
The pies will be going from there to the Room in the Inn downtown, and the staff couldn't be happier.
"They're touched," says Room in the Inn's Karen Stevens. "Especially in this season of giving and they definitely want to make a difference."
The Center has been helping homeless Nashvillians for 27 years, and offers a number of services to some 250 men and women every day. They'd like to increase the number of people they can get off the streets and into their building, and Stevens says the pie drive is a great way to do it. Rubin says even after just one day, they're well on their way to reaching their goal of 100 donations in the first week. He hopes the pie drive will keep growing, so his most famous dish can warm the less fortunate in the coldest of months. Houston brother will be his own attorney in court

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Roane County man will face federal gun violation charges next month without an attorney.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/17VlXpM ) reported Rocky Joe Houston will represent himself on a charge of possession of a gun by a felon.
The charge came after Houston earlier represented himself in state court on charges stemming from a police chase. He was convicted of evading arrest and reckless endangerment.
Houston and his brother, Leon Houston, were tried, but not convicted, in the 2006 shooting deaths of a Roane County deputy and his ride-along companion.
In federal court, Rocky Joe Houston is claiming the officer who charged him with the felony had no legal authority.
