WBFF Fox 45 :: String of Home Invasions Overnight Have Homeowners on Alert-Erika Kurre
by Erika Kurre

MANCHESTER, Tenn. - Authorities say they have pinned down 4 suspects, but believe there are more on the loose. Authorities from 3 different agencies are working this, and tell us they're tracking 2 more people. They believe as many as 5 people could be involved in 3 break-ins early Tuesday morning.

"It was just crazy," says victim Bryan Welch.

It's been less than 24 hours since a group of masked men forced their way into Bryan Welch's home.

"They just charged right in, pushing me through the house, frisked me, kept pushing me through the house asking me where money is," says Welch.

Welch says all but one were wearing a bandana on their face. He recognized the one who wasn't as an acquaintance of his brother's. Within hours, authorities had 18 year old Dakota Newson, 18 year old Dakota Brock and 28 year old Alex Brown in custody.

"These guys were young and just kind of out of control," says Manchester Police Department Chief Mark Yother. "It seemed like they were down on their luck, looking for money, drugs, anything that could turn into money."

The same suspects are believed to be involved in 2 other home invasions in Tullahoma and the Boynton Valley area of Coffee County.

"I think they were planned," says Coffee County Sheriff's Department Investigator Jason Dendy. "I don't think they were random."

Authorities believe someone in the group knew a person at each home they went to. They made out with a laptop and went on to steal a pistol and medications at other homes. Welch says this is one knock on the door he wishes he didn't answer.

"Be careful," says Welch. "Lock your doors at night. Don't answer your doors unless you know it's safe to do. It was a pretty dumb mistake on my end."

Authorities also tell us a juvenile is the 4th person in custody. There were no serious injuries during the invasions and most of the stolen items have been recovered. They expect to have the remaining suspects in custody soon.String of Home Invasions Overnight Have Homeowners on Alert-Erika Kurre

Former Dyer County constable sentenced to prison
May 23, 2013 12:50 GMT

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Dyer County Constable Derick Shane Hundley has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.

The State Gazette (http://bit.ly/14UHydd ) reported Hundley was sentenced Monday after earlier entering a guilty plea to enticement of a minor through electronic means. The government dropped a child pornography count.

Prosecutors said Hundley, who is 30, used a cellphone to try to entice a minor female to have sex with him. Police arrested Hundley last July and found an external hard drive that contained numerous images of minors involved in sex. He resigned from the constable post he had won in 2010 after his arrest.
