A Gallatin family is struggling this Thanksgiving, but the kindness of strangers is helping to make it a little better.
Lisa Velazquez has no electricity for her five children, but they have a warm meal.
It is a difficult holiday for Lisa Velazquez and her five children.
"Going through hard times right now. I just got behind on a lot of my bills," says Velazquez.
When April Sensabaugh found out about the situation she decided to help.
"It's Thanksgiving, and what's Thanksgiving without the giving," says April Sensabaugh.
The Velazquez family now has a Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings.
"I could not sit down today and eat my Thanksgiving dinner knowing what their situation was," says Sensabaugh.
The people at Freedom Church in Gallatin put together a box of food for the family.
"A lot of people had donated some goods and we got it all together and donated it to this family," says Freedom Church member Leanne Escue.
"With them not having electricity, we just went ahead and cooked it for them, and brought it over here," says Sensabaugh.
Lisa Velazquez and her kids may not have much right now, but the value of an unexpected kindness is priceless.
"I'm glad that my kids could have at least a Thanksgiving, even though we don't have lights," says Velazquez.
Freedom Church is now trying to figure out others ways to serve the family. It's big reason to be thankful on this holiday.
"I found it's just something good to do for Thanksgiving, that's what Thanksgiving is about," says Escue.
In addition to this meal, Freedom Church donated about 60 other boxes of food to families in need this Thanksgiving.
