WBFF Fox 45 :: TEMA Issues State of Emergency for Tennessee
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has already issues a State of Emergency for Tennessee. We are at a Level 3 out of 5 tonight. Level 1 is the worst, and would be issued for a statewide catastrophe like an earthquake. Here in Tennessee, we've only reached Level 2 twice. One of those times was during the May 2010 flood. Tonight, at Level 3, the appropriate people are in place to make decisions quickly if needed. They can take action with the force of law to keep us safe. The biggest threat being monitored at TEMA Headquarters right now is ice accumulation. Officials say not only does it lead to dangerous driving conditions, it could affect you at home.

"When you have ice accumulation over 1/2', that's when you start losing power lines, when limbs start coming off trees and falling on power lines," says TEMA Director Jim Bassham. "So, our primary concern right now is power outages."

Bassham says if power goes out, it could take a while to get it back. Have warm blankets, clothing and water available in case of emergency. This advice also applies to motorists. Bassham also says TEMA will be on the lookout for those stranded throughout the night.

Photographer facing child pornography charges
May 22, 2013 22:37 GMT

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a professional photographer from Perry County has been charged with possessing child pornography.

The U.S. attorney's office for West Tennessee said Wednesday that Robert Gregory Dempsey, also known as Jesse Rockwell, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Jackson on charges of possession and interstate transportation of child pornography.

Prosecutors say Dempsey owned Rockwell Photography. Prosecutors say he used social media and the Internet to promote his business throughout western and central Tennessee, including Nashville and the Perry County area.

If convicted, Dempsey could face up to 20 years in federal prison. Online federal court records do not show when he has a court date or if he has a lawyer.
