WBFF Fox 45 :: The Running Mates Make Their Cases
Foreign policy was front and center when the Vice Presidential candidates squared off tonight in Danville, Kentucky. Unemployment and Medicare were also hot topics. A big night for both the Romney and Obama campaigns, as the two Vice Presidential candidates face off. Politicians and pundits weighed in on who won and who lost at Spin Alley. Tonight's debate was 90 minutes, with both candidates seated at the same table. There was a lot of back and forth, with both men challenging one another. Vice President Biden and Congressman Ryan were asked about a number of domestic and foreign policy issues, ranging from the attack in Libya, tax cuts, and Medicare benefits. Here's some reaction to their debate:

"I thought it was just fantastic, and of course there's nobody that does a better job on the budget and the fiscal cliff issues than Paul Ryan," says Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.).

"He ran from almost every question, we didn't get an answer on their tax plan no matter how hard both the moderator and the Vice President pushed," says the Obama/Biden Campaign's David Axelrod.

"We didn't hear a plan from Joe Biden," says Diane Black (R-Tenn.). "As usual, we're back to the same platitudes and no plan."

"Joe Biden came to this with passion, conviction, and the facts, and look at the end of the day, Paul Ryan couldn't dance away from the tax cut, from Medicare, from even privatizing Social Security," says Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois).

Now, the attention will once again shift to the 2 Presidential candidates. They're preparing for their 2nd debate next week in New York. You'll see the debate in its entirety right after XFactor, which follows this newscast. As always, you can get the latest on the election on our website, Fox17.com.The Running Mates Make Their Cases

Miss. chooses new firm to run Woodville prison
May 18, 2013 20:50 GMT

WOODVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Mississippi officials have picked a new company to run the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.

Utah-based Management and Training Corp. announced Friday that the Mississippi Department of Corrections has chosen it to run the 1,000-bed prison starting July 1, the Natchez Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/10MvOGv).

Corrections Corporation of America, based in Nashville, Tenn., had run the prison since 1998. MTC says it will keep "the vast majority" of employees.

MTC will get a five-year contract to run the prison with two one-year options. Last year, officials chose MTC to take over East Mississippi Correctional Facility, the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility and the Marshall County Correctional Facility from the GEO Group. MTC won 10-year contracts for each.

CCA still runs the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility and the Adams County Correctional Center in Mississippi.
