WBFF Fox 45 :: Tri-Star ER Spring Hill Opens -- Sky Arnold
Nestled on some old farmland in Spring Hill is another sign of the town's growth.

Monday morning the new Tri-Star ER Spring Hill opened there.

"We're not just a way station to send patients downtown.  We're gonna be managing a lot of things here that patients can be seen treated and sent home," said Dr. Mark Byram.

The 12 bed facility has a trauma room, a CT Scanner and a decontamination room.

Perhaps the most important quality though is the one Lani Debuhr noticed when she brought her daughter there for treatment from a concussion.

"This morning her symptoms seemed to get worse," said Debuhr. "It was way easier.  It was nice it was open when I needed it."

Before the ER Center opened, people in Spring Hill had to drive out of town for emergency medical care, either to the Williamson Medical Center in Franklin or the Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.

Both of those hospitals opposed the ER Center saying it could drive up medical costs by duplicating services already in the area.

ER Spring Hill administrators say the center is needed for a growing population that doesn't want to leave town for emergencies.

"We can take care of anything from a sore throat broken bone a heart attack car accident whatever we can take care of that," said Director Keri McKamay.Tri-Star ER Spring Hill Opens -- Sky Arnold

Houston brother will be his own attorney in court
June 18, 2013 13:02 GMT

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Roane County man will face federal gun violation charges next month without an attorney.

The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/17VlXpM ) reported Rocky Joe Houston will represent himself on a charge of possession of a gun by a felon.

The charge came after Houston earlier represented himself in state court on charges stemming from a police chase. He was convicted of evading arrest and reckless endangerment.

Houston and his brother, Leon Houston, were tried, but not convicted, in the 2006 shooting deaths of a Roane County deputy and his ride-along companion.

In federal court, Rocky Joe Houston is claiming the officer who charged him with the felony had no legal authority.
