WBFF Fox 45 :: UPDATE: Investigators Suspect Foul Play in Body Found Near Quarry - Eric Alvarez
The woman's body has since been brought to Nashville for autopsy. Investigators have yet to positively identify the woman, according to a spokesperson with the TBI. The TBI will begin looking to missing person cases from across the state as they continue their investigation.

The Coffee County Sheriff's Office says they suspect foul play after finding the partially-burned body of a young woman is found near a rock quarry in Summitville Saturday afternoon.

The TBI is investigating the case.  Saturday a man told Fox 17 he came across the body.

"It's like a horror movie come to life," Gerald Allen said.  "Faces of death. You'd never expect you'd see something like that."

Allen, 44 said he came across the body near the opening of a cave in a Summitville rock quarry when he was hiking with his girlfriend and her three daughters Saturday afternoon

"You've got three kids they're screaming and crying because they just witnessed something that you figured they'd never have to witness in their life," Allen said,

Allen said he notified the police, which sealed off the land around the quarry.

"It's just really scary I mean I don't know how to feel about it," said Gloria Cox, who has lived across the street from the quarry for 10 years.

Cox said the area is a popular for hikers and all-terrain vehicles during the day but says at night things got a lot more dangerous.

"There's a lot of drugs and stuff out there and I don't know the crazy stuff going on," Cox said.

Cox says she was afraid something bad would eventually happen on the land across the street, but says she never expected anything like this.

"I just don't know how to feel about it," Cox said.  "I wish they could do something to stop it, to stop people from going over there.

May 20, 2013 20:14 GMT

LOUISVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Blount (blunt) County sheriff's office says preliminary results of autopsies on the bodies of a couple found dead in their home in Louisville (LEW'-ihs-vil) show their deaths are consistent with murder-suicide.

Marian O'Briant said in an email that it appears 54-year-old Steven Adkins shot 53-year-old Rebecca Adkins, then shot himself.

O'Briant said a family member found the bodies Sunday night. It wasn't clear how long they had been dead.
