WBFF Fox 45 :: UPDATE: Tobacco & Ale Store Robbery Suspect Arrested
BREAKING NEWS:
Just hours ago, Metro Police arrested the shotgun-wielding robber who held-up Donelson Pike Tobacco & Ale at 519 Donelson Pike just after 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Police identified the suspect last night as 30-year-old Jeffery Halstead, and booked him into jail at around 2:45 a.m., according to police records obtained by FOX 17 News. He was also wanted for a Donelson robbery on Nov. 29.
Halstead was pulled over at State Route 45 and Gallatin Pike as the vehicle matched the description of one used in a robbery earlier in the day. Documents show Halstead is the alleged armed suspect in a robbery at Chip's Quik Stop on Whites Creek Pike at 7 p.m. yesterday in which he used a shotgun to threaten a clerk into giving him $200. He fled that scene in a truck which was found to be stolen.
Halstead is in the Davidson County Jail on $390,000 bond. He has 10 charges in all; with three counts of aggravated robbery, theft, vandalism, aggravated burglary, vehicle theft and drug possession with intent to sell.
Surveillance video was taken at both businesses where the robberies occurred.UPDATE: Tobacco & Ale Store Robbery Suspect Arrested

State officials to hold seat belt campaign event
May 24, 2013 08:11 GMT

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (AP) -- The Governor's Highway Safety Office plans to announce its "Click It or Ticket" campaign on Friday.

The event is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. at the Robertson County Courthouse in Springfield.

Nationally, statistics show seat belt use increased significantly in 2012 as compared to 2011 among drivers, right-front passengers and backseat occupants.

However, officials say more than 400 of Tennessee's crash fatalities last year involved unrestrained drivers or passengers.

The Governor's Highway Safety Office urges all motorists to buckle up.
