WBFF Fox 45 :: Fireworks Cause Animals to Run Away, Crowd Animal Shelter
The day after the fireworks is always a busy one at Metro Animal Control, but it's not usually this busy. Private citizens brought over 40 animals to Animal Control today. Over a dozen other animals were picked up by Animal Control officers. Staffers say the fireworks spook a lot of pets and cause them to run away. If one of these pets is yours, you have 3 days to claim it, but be sure to bring your wallet.

"It's an impound fee, which is $50, and it's $18 a day board," says Metro Animal Control Officer Billy Biggs. "But every animal that comes in, they do get a booster on all their shots and if need be seen by a vet."

Metro's Animal Control Shelter can house about 240 pets. They say Summer is always busy and days like this put them at or over capacity.Fireworks Cause Animals to Run Away, Crowd Animal Shelter
