A man was killed after he and his girlfriend were returning to her apartment after going to a nearby Tobacco store on Tuesday night after they were shot multiple times.
The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. at the Prestige Point Apartments in south Nashville. According to Metro Police, the male victim and his girlfriend were approached outside her apartment from behind by an unknown suspect who began firing a weapon at both victims, striking them several times.
Paramedics arrived on scene and transported the victims to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The man died as a result of the injuries he suffered from the shooting. The female is still in the care of Vanderbilt Hospital and is expected to survive her injuries.
Neighbors report seeing a grey/silver (newer model) Chevrolet Impala with a spoiler in the area during the shooting. They saw the vehicle driving slow in the parking lot shortly after the victims arrived at the location. The driver has been described as being a male black with what appeared to be dreadlocks. A passenger got out of the Impala and began walking to the general area of the shooting. After the shooting, they saw a subject fleeing on foot and run toward the Impala which then left the complex.
Police are still investigating and do not have a motive for the attack at this time. Anyone with information is urged to call police at 862-8600.

Body found in Percy Priest Lake

SMYRNA, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say a body has been found in Percy Priest Lake in Middle Tennessee.
WSMV-TV (http://bit.ly/16gYKys) reports officials with Metro Police, the Office of Emergency Management and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency were at the scene Saturday at Hole In The Wall Island. The body was reported to authorities about 11 a.m.
TWRA officials say they believe the deceased man is a boater who disappeared in the lake two weeks ago.
Police said the agencies coordinated with each other to get a boat in the water and recover the body.
