Clarksville Police are still searching for 2 women suspected of shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of baby formula. Police say it's a growing trend across Middle Tennessee. FOX17's Erika Lathon has more on what's become a hot commodity on the black market. For parents with a newborn, baby formula is often an essential part of the first year. That formula is also very expensive and highly valued on the black market. In Clarksville, police released surveillance video of 2 women allegedly stealing almost $400 worth of baby formula. Tonight those women are still on the run. Police across the Midstate say bulk theft of baby formula and other merchandise is part of a growing trend.
"It would be safe to say every jurisdiction across the Middle Tennessee area has experienced some type of mass quantity thefts of baby formula or name brand designer type clothing," says Sgt. Charlie Warner.

Houston brother will be his own attorney in court

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Roane County man will face federal gun violation charges next month without an attorney.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/17VlXpM ) reported Rocky Joe Houston will represent himself on a charge of possession of a gun by a felon.
The charge came after Houston earlier represented himself in state court on charges stemming from a police chase. He was convicted of evading arrest and reckless endangerment.
Houston and his brother, Leon Houston, were tried, but not convicted, in the 2006 shooting deaths of a Roane County deputy and his ride-along companion.
In federal court, Rocky Joe Houston is claiming the officer who charged him with the felony had no legal authority.
