WBFF Fox 45 :: Teenage Brothers Arrested for Robbery of Elderly North Nashville Man

Metro police arrest two teenage brothers for robbing a 74-year-old Nashville man outside his home today. Kemontanez Armstrong, 18, is in the Metro jail on charges of aggravated robbery and assault. His brother, Romeo Armstrong, 15, is being held in juvenile detention and is facing the same charges. The elderly victim said he was outside his home this morning around 9:30 when the two brothers approached him. At first they asked him for a light and then demanded he throw his wallet on the grown. The victim says both brothers were armed with pistols. The Armstrong brothers took the elderly man’s wallet and then went to another home. When they approached the second house the resident told them to leave. The North Flex police and patrol officers combed the area and used a canine team to track down the suspects. Police searched door to door on the 2000 block of Baptist World Center Drive and found the Armstrong brothers in one of the homes. Police were able to recover the victim’s wallet and the two pistols when they searched the home.

2 appellate court judges are stepping down
May 24, 2013 21:29 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two Tennessee appellate court judges have notified Gov. Bill Haslam that they will not run for another term on the bench in the August 2014 retention election.

Patricia J. Cottrell, a judge on the Court of Appeals, and Joseph M. Tipton, who sits on the Court of Criminal Appeals bench, will both leave after September of next year.

The announcements come after the state legislature left Tennessee without a way to replace judges who step down or die when a commission expires at the end of next month.

Members of the soon-to-be-defunct Judicial Nominating Commission will make recommendations for replacements to give to Haslam before the panel expires. Haslam will appoint the replacements from those recommendations.
