WBFF Fox 45 :: EXCLUSIVE: Coopertown Officer Off the Job After Racial Slurs Caught on Tape
The Coopertown reserve police officer who was caught on a patrol camera saying the n-word is off the job.

Wednesday morning, Coopertown's Police Chief fired Officer Robert McCormick.

That move came less than a day after Fox 17 News aired video of the rant.

That video showed McCormick complaining to another officer about an African American driver he pulled over and Coopertown mayor Sam Childs for reprimanding him over the stop.

"Here he's done made love to this damn (n-word) who lives in Springfield, don't even live in Coopertown," said McCormick about the mayor in that video.

Childs first saw the video several weeks ago but told Fox 17 News he didn't fire Officer McCormick because he felt he was only angry at being reprimanded.

Childs says he changed his mind after thinking about it Tuesday night.

The mayor says he was planning to fire Officer McCormick Wednesday morning but the chief beat him to it.

Fox 17 News showed the video of McCormick's rant to several Coopertown residents including Jamie Mallory and Shannon Bice.

Both support the decision to terminate officer McCormick.

"They should've did it as soon as they found out that's the problem the cops think they're above the law," said Mallory.

"There's no second chance for this you don't make racial slurs to nobody," said Bice.EXCLUSIVE: Coopertown Officer Off the Job After Racial Slurs Caught on Tape

Tenn. Powerball ticket worth $1 million
May 19, 2013 18:44 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Powerball ticket sold in Tennessee barely missed winning a share of an estimated $590.5 million prize. But the ticket has a nice consolation prize worth $1 million.

Officials say the Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Chattanooga.

There's no word yet on who won.

A Powerball ticket sold at a supermarket in Zephyrhills, Fla., matched all six numbers selected Saturday night for the estimated $590.5 million prize. It's the highest Powerball jackpot in history.

The winning numbers were 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball of 11.
