People are speaking out about a plan to expand a landfill in Marshall County. Waste Management says it needs more space, but opponents say they're tired of trash. A meeting that was held last night did not go very well for Waste Management, but they will continue to press on with their plan to bring more trash to the Cedar Ridge Landfill. As you can imagine, not everyone is happy about it. It's not over because the County Commission will vote on this zoning change next week, and they can overrule the Planning Commission. Many people are also concerned this is happening too quickly. The County Commission has called a special called meeting just to consider this rezoning request.

Updated conservatorship statute effective July 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam has signed into law revisions to the state conservatorship statute.
The law allows the court to appoint a conservator to manage the assets of a person a judge finds unable to handle his or her own affairs.
State Rep. Andrew Farmer, a Sevierville Republican, told The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1183hjy ) the intent of the bill he sponsored in the House is to make sure people aren't being taken advantage of.
The bill sprang from a series of hearings statewide by the Tennessee Bar Association. They revealed there were no uniform procedures for placing a person's assets under a conservator on an emergency basis.
The changes take effect July 1.
