Shonya McKinley is more than a little relieved the organization kept it going.
"If this wasn't here again it would create a hole. It would put us in a situation where we have to try to find additional resources. One that may not be as safe," said McKinley.
McKinley and pretty much every parent in Sumner County has had to re-think child care options because of a decision last week.
That's when the Sumner County School Board voted to postpone classes indefinitely to settle a budget battle with the County Commission.
Board Members wanted the Commission to provide an extra $7 million.
On Monday the Commission voted to give an extra $2 million.
The School Board plans to meet Thursday to decide if that's enough to open schools.
With such uncertainty, David Stryjewski with the YMCA says the organization felt it had to help when schools were initially canceled.
"I'm sure parents were caught off guard on Friday or Thursday night you find out. If you're a working family that can be problematic so we wanted to do what whatever we could to provide for that," said Stryjewski.
The YMCA re-opened the camp on Monday and extended the hours of the after school program Fun Company to all day at three schools.
Roughly 80 children are now taking part in the two programs but the day camp can't last forever.
After next week it will be difficult to find counselors.
That's one more reason why McKinley wants the budget battle settled.
"I can not express in words how ready I am for this to end," said McKinley.

Former Dyer County constable sentenced to prison
May 23, 2013 12:50 GMT
DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Dyer County Constable Derick Shane Hundley has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
The State Gazette (http://bit.ly/14UHydd ) reported Hundley was sentenced Monday after earlier entering a guilty plea to enticement of a minor through electronic means. The government dropped a child pornography count.
Prosecutors said Hundley, who is 30, used a cellphone to try to entice a minor female to have sex with him. Police arrested Hundley last July and found an external hard drive that contained numerous images of minors involved in sex. He resigned from the constable post he had won in 2010 after his arrest.
