Someone shot a dog at point blank range, but the pup is not only alive -- she's getting better.
When a stray dog, now named Corona first arrived at the Cannon County Animal Clinic - even Dr. Gayle Tate says her condition was the worst he has seen in his more than 30 years of practice.
Dr. Tate says, “When we got into it… it was huge and i have been doing this for a long time this is one of the worst mouth injuries i have ever seen.”
Dr. Tate says when Corona first arrived she was in critical condition, could barely breath and was losing a lot of blood....
Corona was stabilized and rested for the night
It wouldn't be until the next morning when X-Rays told the horrific story of what happened to this innocent animal.
Pieces of a bullet rested in her stomach and her throat tissue was also pierced with bullet shrapnel- she had been shot at point blank range.
For those who helped rescue Corona - finding out what someone did was heartbreaking.
Clay Lerch says, “She probably sat right there while they put the gun down her throat wagging her tail and let them do it.”
Andrea Holt says the stray dog often came around her house to play with her kids... She says this dog could never have done anything to deserve this
Holt says, “Monster, heartless I couldn't even imagine.”
Even through all that she has been through - the staff says Corona's temperament has been the same- kind and gentle.
Dr. Tate says, “Very people oriented just wants to be petted and just wants to love on you.”
Corona has captured the hearts of people across the world through social media... Enough money has now been raised to cover corona's vet bill and offer a reward to find the person who shot her.
A 25 hundred dollar reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
The vet says Corona should be able to be adopted as soon as Monday or Tuesday.

Photographer facing child pornography charges
May 22, 2013 22:37 GMT
JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a professional photographer from Perry County has been charged with possessing child pornography.
The U.S. attorney's office for West Tennessee said Wednesday that Robert Gregory Dempsey, also known as Jesse Rockwell, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Jackson on charges of possession and interstate transportation of child pornography.
Prosecutors say Dempsey owned Rockwell Photography. Prosecutors say he used social media and the Internet to promote his business throughout western and central Tennessee, including Nashville and the Perry County area.
If convicted, Dempsey could face up to 20 years in federal prison. Online federal court records do not show when he has a court date or if he has a lawyer.
