WBFF Fox 45 :: Vanderbilt Medical Center Installs Healthy Vending Machines
Ever feel like snacking while you're at work, but don't want all the
calories and fat from chips and candy bars in vending machines?
Vanderbilt Medical Center is giving its employees and visitors a
healthier choice by installing new healthy vending machines.

Dr.
Kevin Nisewender, an endocrinologist and obesity expert at Vanderbilt,
says the newest addition to the hospital break rooms have been a big
hit.  "They've been quite popular and several locations have been
selling out even before they have time to refill the units" says Dr.
Niswender.

Instead of Reeses, Almond Joy, and Twix, people can
now pick apples, veggie straws, or a turkey sandwich.  There are a
handful of these healthy vending machines all over the hospital and they
want to keep adding more, but they're not doing away with the typical
unhealthy vending machines.  They simply want to give people a choice.
"If people are given choices for healthier options we've observed
they've typically taken those choices" says Dr. Nisewender.

Now,
the healthier choices are more expensive to buy with some items costing
more than $2.00.  Also, the machines are more expensive to maintain
because the foods are perishable and have to stay cold.  Eventually, the
hospital plans on putting in healthier drinks too like vitamin water
and low calorie soft drinks.Vanderbilt Medical Center Installs Healthy Vending Machines

Arrest made in fatal shooting in Memphis
May 23, 2013 19:55 GMT

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Memphis police have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting one man and wounding another.

The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/188G97s ) reports that 21-year-old Setric Hall has been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, attempted second-degree murder and using a firearm during a felony.

He's being held in the Shelby County Jail.

Police say the shootings occurred Wednesday night. Officers found a 26-year-old man on the floor with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead there, and later identified as Devin Cox.

A few minutes later, officers responded to another location, where they found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis.

Police believe that Hall was trying to shoot his girlfriend when the 22-year-old man intervened.

The girlfriend was not injured.
