WBFF Fox 45 :: Arrest Made in $22K Theft of Purses, Merchandise Gone
Metro Police have arrested the suspect in a commercial robbery of a Phillips 66 at 5805 Old Hickory Blvd. in Hermitage overnight.
The suspect, Vincent Carter, 27, entered the store just before 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, pulled out a tire iron and struck the clerk once across the left side of his face and neck, according to police. He then took a stack of $20 bills from the register, an estimated $600,  before fleeing.
Carter dropped his phone as he left, leaving behind a memory card for a phone which has pictures of him on it. A customer also witnessed part of the incident and was able to obtain a tag number as the suspect fled leading police to a nearby address.
A subject matching the suspect description was located inside. When officers asked him to return with them to the scene the pair of pants he requested to wear had a stack of $20s inside the pocket.
The vehicle owner admitted he had allowed the suspect to use his vehicle during the time frame which the incident occurred.
A consent search of the vehicle revealed a tire iron matching the one used in the robbery.
The clerk was able to positively identify Carter who was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and assault. He is being held on $75,000.

Miss. chooses new firm to run Woodville prison
May 18, 2013 20:50 GMT

WOODVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Mississippi officials have picked a new company to run the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.

Utah-based Management and Training Corp. announced Friday that the Mississippi Department of Corrections has chosen it to run the 1,000-bed prison starting July 1, the Natchez Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/10MvOGv).

Corrections Corporation of America, based in Nashville, Tenn., had run the prison since 1998. MTC says it will keep "the vast majority" of employees.

MTC will get a five-year contract to run the prison with two one-year options. Last year, officials chose MTC to take over East Mississippi Correctional Facility, the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility and the Marshall County Correctional Facility from the GEO Group. MTC won 10-year contracts for each.

CCA still runs the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility and the Adams County Correctional Center in Mississippi.
