WBFF Fox 45 :: Making Their Case Part 2: 4 Men Running for Hendersonville Mayor Say You Should Vote for Them
The 2nd half of the field in the Hendersonville Mayor's race. The 4 candidates faced off today in an afternoon forum hosted by the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce. The audience at Bluegrass Country Club was made up primarily of business leaders. FOX17's Scott Couch moderated the panel, asking questions generated by the Chamber's Government Relations Committee. 8 year incumbent Scott Foster says he'd like to finish some high profile road projects begun under his administration and continue the city's recent growth.

"Family Circle Magazine rates us one of the top 10 places to raise families," says Foster. "We want the corporate guys to understand Hendersonville is just that. Bring your families, bring your friends. CNN Money Magazine just rated us one of the Top 100 Places to Live. So, we have a lot of accolades to show off and show Hendersonville is phenomenal."

"We've got kids playing volleyball in the middle of Main Street," says Brown. "We're a unique city, and I want folks to know I want to keep that unique quality of life and I want to make it better than it is right now."

In Part 1, we heard from longtime City Councilmen Garry Forsythe and Tommy Elsten.

Miss. chooses new firm to run Woodville prison
May 18, 2013 20:50 GMT

WOODVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Mississippi officials have picked a new company to run the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.

Utah-based Management and Training Corp. announced Friday that the Mississippi Department of Corrections has chosen it to run the 1,000-bed prison starting July 1, the Natchez Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/10MvOGv).

Corrections Corporation of America, based in Nashville, Tenn., had run the prison since 1998. MTC says it will keep "the vast majority" of employees.

MTC will get a five-year contract to run the prison with two one-year options. Last year, officials chose MTC to take over East Mississippi Correctional Facility, the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility and the Marshall County Correctional Facility from the GEO Group. MTC won 10-year contracts for each.

CCA still runs the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility and the Adams County Correctional Center in Mississippi.
