WBFF Fox 45 :: Outbreak May Have 5th Fatality
Fox 17 News has learned there actually may be a 5th meningitis victim in Tennessee.

Friends and family of 80 year old Reba Temple say she died of the fungal meningitis Saturday.

Officially the State is not listing Temple as an outbreak fatality just yet but that could change.

Friends like Shane Willis say the Hickman County woman was an avid churchgoer at the Centerville Church of Christ who was born and raised in the area.

"She grew up in Hickman County.  She took a lot of pride in saying I'm from Hickman County."

Friends affectionately called Temple Ms. Reba.

They say even at 80 years old she was in good health.

That changed after she got the steroid injection to deal with back pain.

"It was a shock to everybody that number one she was in the hospital and number two the passing of her life," said Willis.

Reba Temple was buried Monday morning.

She leaves behind a son and a granddaughter.Outbreak May Have 5th Fatality

2 appellate court judges are stepping down
May 24, 2013 21:29 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two Tennessee appellate court judges have notified Gov. Bill Haslam that they will not run for another term on the bench in the August 2014 retention election.

Patricia J. Cottrell, a judge on the Court of Appeals, and Joseph M. Tipton, who sits on the Court of Criminal Appeals bench, will both leave after September of next year.

The announcements come after the state legislature left Tennessee without a way to replace judges who step down or die when a commission expires at the end of next month.

Members of the soon-to-be-defunct Judicial Nominating Commission will make recommendations for replacements to give to Haslam before the panel expires. Haslam will appoint the replacements from those recommendations.
