"Not that I'm Mr. US NEWS and WORLD REPORT up on everything, but I had no idea until I had read the script and then I read the WIRED article on which the script is based," says John Goodman.
"I read this story and thought, I kept going back true story, okay," says Bryan Cranston. "Because what I'm reading here is bizarre and if it was just written as a fiction people would go get out, c'mon, it's, no one's gonna believe that. That's what makes the story all the more gripping is that, what a daring, daring venture."
Directing only his 2nd feature film, star Ben Affleck says the story had to be streamlined for the big screen.
"The truth is often unwieldy and all over the place so it needed to be sculpted," says Affleck. "It's not a docu-drama obviously, it's a feature. I had to maintain the integrity of the truth but I also had to make it watchable and fun and exciting."
Since the details of the rescue weren't made public until the 1990s, we asked the stars which moments in history they'd like to see declassified.
"I would wanna know exactly what state the moon landing happened in because it of course never happened," says Cranston. "No. I'm not one of those. I know."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Queen Elizabeth's youngest son, Prince Edward, is visiting Tennessee to promote one of the British royal family's charities, the Duke of Edinburgh's awards.
The prince presided over an awards ceremony at the governor's mansion in Nashville on Thursday for the first batch of young Tennesseans to participate in the leadership and character program.
About 80 youths received the award by participating in community service, skills development, physical fitness and adventurous journeys through the Boy Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, LEAD Academy, Montgomery Bell Academy or the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Organization.
Following the event, Gov. Bill Haslam and first lady Crissy Haslam invited the awardees and their families to tea inside the governor's residence. Later on Thursday, the prince was scheduled to headline a black-tie gala at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville.
