Post Tropical Storm Sandy is changing the landscape along the East Coast and just about everyone with a camera or smart phone is taking pictures tonight. Some amazing shots are making the rounds on Facebook and Twitter and we've compiled some shots that really show the power of this storm. Not much danger of anyone wading into the surf in Virginia as waves from Sandy continue to slam the shore. Some of our pictures were taken by former FOX17 Photographer Kirk Kellerhalls, who now works for the city of Virginia Beach. A McDonald's on Shore Drive there is among the casualties, with water up to the cash registers. Up the coast, in Washington, D.C., troops standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington are getting pelted. From space you can see Sandy's huge footprint and how this storm is literally hanging over the New England states. Back on the ground, the resort town of Ocean City, Maryland is already flooding. Streets near the shore are passable only by boat. Hurricane winds picked up a trampoline and deposited it into the power lines in Milford, Connecticut. We have pictures of 30ft. waves coming down on tiny Winthrop, Massachusetts. All emergency workers can do is keep people back. To this point, perhaps no city has felt Sandy's slap worse than Atlantic City, New Jersey. Downtown streets are underwater and there's more where this came from. Just to the North, coastal homeowners in Brigantine, New Jersey are surrounded by water on all sides, and some of those waters have sharks in them. Schools in New York are closed Tuesday. From Battery Park to Brooklyn, the Big Apple is in trouble. A crumpled crane hangs dangerously over populated downtown buildings. Those who are old enough remember the damage from Hurricane Donna in 1960. Forecasters say this storm will be worse. As bad as things are on the ground, wind gusts up to 90mph at the top of some of the Big Apple's skyscrapers have officials worried about broken windows and falling glass tonight.
