Planning to travel this
holiday season? Well, you may find the cheapest fare in a surprising
place... right on the airline's website. That's because carriers are
steering travelers away from sites like Orbitz, Travelocity and
Expedia. Some airlines are penalizing passengers who book on a discount
site by not giving them seat assignments until they check in and
limiting the number of frequent flyer miles they can earn for the
flight. This is the airline's way of getting back at discount sites
that charge airlines up to $25 dollars a ticket for every booking.
Also, how about some extra cash in your pocket? If you need a little
to make ends meet, consider selling your Halloween candy. South
Nashville dentist Kristin Rushing is paying a dollar per pound and she
actually weighs it on some scales. Remember dental work from eating all
that sugar can also be costly, plus the candy is used in care packages
for our troops overseas according to Dr. Rushing. "The record holder to
date is a grandmother. She brought in all of the candy for her
grandchildren and she had 16 pounds so she got 16 dollars."
To visit Dr. Rushing's office, go to Fox17.com and click Fox links. You
can also find other area dentists participating in the candy buy back
program on Foxlinks.

Tenn. Powerball ticket worth $1 million
May 19, 2013 18:44 GMT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Powerball ticket sold in Tennessee barely missed winning a share of an estimated $590.5 million prize. But the ticket has a nice consolation prize worth $1 million.
Officials say the Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Chattanooga.
There's no word yet on who won.
A Powerball ticket sold at a supermarket in Zephyrhills, Fla., matched all six numbers selected Saturday night for the estimated $590.5 million prize. It's the highest Powerball jackpot in history.
The winning numbers were 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball of 11.
