WBFF Fox 45 :: Attorney Shot By Police
Those who live on Clarksville's Pond Apple Road say the neighborhood is as quiet and serene as the name sounds.

That changed Saturday night when residents like Randy Butler got a knock on their door from police.

"Told us to stay in the house and not come out," said Butler.

The warning came as police were involved in a standoff with attorney Todd Hansrote.

Police received a call the attorney was threatening to kill himself or his wife.

After hours of failed negotiations Saturday, police heard shots inside the home.

Police say an officer killed Hansrote when the father of three walked outside and started shooting.

"Sad for the family actually," said neighbor Doug Overdeer. "The wife the kids the family.  Everybody will be fine they're the ones impacted the most."

Authorities aren't elaborating what lead to it all but this isn't the first sign of trouble in the home.

Last July police responded to a similar call.

Police reports from that incident say Hansrote suspected his wife of cheating and threatened suicide.

Authorities went to the home and found shots had been fired but no one was there.

No charges were ever filed in the incident as officers eventually determined none of the parties involved were in any danger.

There's no word yet what role if any that scare may have played in the one Saturday night.Attorney Shot By Police

Miss. chooses new firm to run Woodville prison
May 18, 2013 20:50 GMT

WOODVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Mississippi officials have picked a new company to run the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.

Utah-based Management and Training Corp. announced Friday that the Mississippi Department of Corrections has chosen it to run the 1,000-bed prison starting July 1, the Natchez Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/10MvOGv).

Corrections Corporation of America, based in Nashville, Tenn., had run the prison since 1998. MTC says it will keep "the vast majority" of employees.

MTC will get a five-year contract to run the prison with two one-year options. Last year, officials chose MTC to take over East Mississippi Correctional Facility, the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility and the Marshall County Correctional Facility from the GEO Group. MTC won 10-year contracts for each.

CCA still runs the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility and the Adams County Correctional Center in Mississippi.
