Eric Perkins did not appear in court this morning, but officers who were on the scene during last week's shooting testified about what happened. Police say Perkins led them on a low speed car chase before making a run for it. During the foot chase, he allegedly opened fire, shooting Officer Faye Denson in the leg. He was then shot in the chest by Officer Carroll Fondaw, who took the stand this morning. Officer Fondaw says the suspect tried to shoot him as well. Officer Denson is in the process of recovering from that wound. Perkins faces several charges, including Attempted Homicide, Evading Arrest, Felon in Possession of a Weapon and Driving on a Suspended License.

Couple's bodies found in their Blount County home

LOUISVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Blount (blunt) County sheriff's office says preliminary results of autopsies on the bodies of a couple found dead in their home in Louisville (LEW'-ihs-vil) show their deaths are consistent with murder-suicide.
Marian O'Briant said in an email that it appears 54-year-old Steven Adkins shot 53-year-old Rebecca Adkins, then shot himself.
O'Briant said a family member found the bodies Sunday night. It wasn't clear how long they had been dead.
