WBFF Fox 45 :: 19th Annual Boulevard Bolt
Before that Thanksgiving meal thousands of people burned some extra calories with a morning run. Early this morning on “Tennessee Mornings” you saw the start of the 19th annual Boulevard Bolt. More the 8,500 people took part in the five mile run in Belle Meade with the proceeds going to charities to support those in Nashville who do not have a place to call home. Some people dressed in colorful outfits. Mayor Karl Dean has told Fox 17 he has a lot to be thankful for.

"I'm thankful for living in a great city I really am. I think Nashville has got an edge to it. It's doing very well. But it's a city that's all about volunteers and it's all about caring for each other and the thing I'm proudest about is that we're considered the friendliest city in the United States," said Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.

Over the past 19 years more than two million dollars have been raised for Nashville homeless organizations.19th Annual Boulevard Bolt

2 appellate court judges are stepping down
May 24, 2013 21:29 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two Tennessee appellate court judges have notified Gov. Bill Haslam that they will not run for another term on the bench in the August 2014 retention election.

Patricia J. Cottrell, a judge on the Court of Appeals, and Joseph M. Tipton, who sits on the Court of Criminal Appeals bench, will both leave after September of next year.

The announcements come after the state legislature left Tennessee without a way to replace judges who step down or die when a commission expires at the end of next month.

Members of the soon-to-be-defunct Judicial Nominating Commission will make recommendations for replacements to give to Haslam before the panel expires. Haslam will appoint the replacements from those recommendations.
