WBFF Fox 45 :: Cheatham County Officials Discover Large Dog Fighting Operation
Officials in Ashland City rescue 65 dogs from a suspected dog fighting and breeding operation.

Thanksgiving night Ashland City and Pleasant View Fire Departments responded to a brush fire call. But what they found was entirely different.

Officials discovered a large number of American Pit Bulls and Beagles all needing medical attention. Cheatham County Animal Control officials discovered a treadmill, fighting pen, and spring pole on the property which lead them to believe dog fighting and dog breeding was taking place on the property.

Animal Control Officials quickly called Animal Rescue Corps for assistance in rescuing the animals. At this time all animals have been taken to emergency shelters to assess their medical needs.

At this time no charges have been filed as official continue to investigate.

Former Dyer County constable sentenced to prison
May 23, 2013 12:50 GMT

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Dyer County Constable Derick Shane Hundley has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.

The State Gazette (http://bit.ly/14UHydd ) reported Hundley was sentenced Monday after earlier entering a guilty plea to enticement of a minor through electronic means. The government dropped a child pornography count.

Prosecutors said Hundley, who is 30, used a cellphone to try to entice a minor female to have sex with him. Police arrested Hundley last July and found an external hard drive that contained numerous images of minors involved in sex. He resigned from the constable post he had won in 2010 after his arrest.
