She's now recovering at home and being monitored by doctors.
An aide, Philippe Reines, says Clinton will work from home next week, at the recommendation of doctors.
Congressional aides do not expect her to testify as scheduled at congressional hearings on Thursday into the Sept. 11 attack against a U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador.
The aides spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to publicly discuss Clinton's status.
The department says Clinton was dehydrated because of the virus and that she fainted, causing the concussion. No further details were immediately available.

Sheriff says deputy sneaked in drugs, smokes
May 22, 2013 18:50 GMT
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- The Rutherford County sheriff has fired a deputy who he said was sneaking in contraband to jail inmates.
Sheriff Robert Arnold terminated the employment of Deputy Keith Knowles on May 10. The sheriff said he was disappointed to find a deputy with a long career was supplying inmates with forbidden items.
The Daily News Journal (http://on.dnj.com/12MorCe ) reported the department launched an investigation earlier this month after receiving reports that an officer brought a cellphone and tobacco to inmates. Marijuana was also reportedly brought in.
Arnold said Knowles gave a statement that resulted in his firing.
The sheriff's office will turn over its investigation to the district attorney's office to determine whether charges will be filed.
